MISS BRODRICK’S CONCERT.

The heavy rain that fell during the afternoon and early part of Friday evening last, no doubt prevented many who lived at a distance from attending the concert given bfTVliss Brodrick’s pupils in Boole’s Hall, Utiku. There was, however, a very fair attendance, and the audience was keenly appreciative, encores being the order of the evening. The hall was tastefully decorated and the programme, which was an excellent one, went off without a hitch. Miss Brodrick, who has been teaching music in our mids£ for some time has every reason to be pleased with the results of her work, for her pupils went to the piano with confidence and gave ample evidence of sound training by their teacher, combined with intelligent interest on their own part. 'Three specially pleasing items wefe""given by a company of youSg ladies. In their “Anzac,” they were nicely dressed in white with red white and blue sashes. To render “Killarney” they .appeared in green with red sashes, while their appeal in the song “Red Cross” was made more striking by their coming on the stage attired as Red Cross Nurses. We must not forget to mention the dainty song “Lullaby,” in which were well balanced. The entertainment, which concluded with the National Anthem, will, I understand, materially augment the Red Cross Funds.
