PLUNKET SOCIETY.
The usual monthly meeting of the above Society was held in the Nurses’ Room, Town Hall, on Friday, December 7th. Present: Mesdames Loughnan (chair), Timbs, Somerville, Shute, Carpenter, Ongley and the secretary. NursiJ Aitken reported that there were now 197 babies on the books in this district, of which 22 arc new cases. She paid 160 visits to homes and received 216 visitors at the various offices; 2 mothers vf/Q re (shown how to make humanised milk, and 3 letters were written and 1 received. A number of children and babies have whooping cough, otherwise the general health of the babies is good. Another case of baby clothes made by the sewing committee of the Society for the wives and widows of the soldiers and sailors of Great Britain is now ready. It was decided to forward it at once Subscriptions were received during the month from Mesdames Arrowsmith and Sinclair.
