AMUSEMENTS
EVERYBODY’S A powerfully attractive programme will to-night be presented at the Town Hall. There will bo two big star attractions. ‘‘The Virginian,” is an excellent Paramount film based on the powerful novel by Owen Wister. a book that has been read and re-read with the utmost delight wherever the language is spoken. It is scarcely necessary since the novel is so well known to enter into the whole plot, but an advantage held by this splendidly, adapted film study over the original story is in the humorous or thrilling scenes which have been barely suggested by the book. The exchange of the babies, for instance, where the Virginian and his pal at a dance “swap’’ tho clothes of sleeping children, is hugely funny. Then, again, the intensity of the scene' in which the Virginian, hunting cattle thieves, finds his old pal breaking the law must appeal to. every heart. Impelled by a ; stcrr. cense of duty. . he orders his'frierJl' 'j b 6 dealt with according f,q-the 'Strict letter of the law of" those days, while tho only satisfaction loft .to him is to avenge the boy’s death on the responsible outlaw. Laughter, tears, and applause mingle with the charm of the story whose ending—the conclusion, of a pretty wooing—may well be loft to the imagination. The second big attraction is the William Fox production “Should a Mother Tell” dealing with a question that upset two continents. Miss Nansen, the world-famous emotional actress has one solution for it. You may or you may not agree with it but you certainly want to, 'it. (The programme 5g for one night only.
