THREE STARS

Mary Piekford has lost none of her charm, as it witnessed by her undisputed pride of place in every popularity contest. The last huge one in U.S.A., resulted in a poll of her of a million and a half votes. In “The Girl of Yesterday” the delectable Mary has a role which gives every opportunity for the display of her indefinable charm. The plot is a strong one but it is relieved by some touches of ligh t comedy which relieves it. The plot fines down eventually to a fight between Mary as the heroine and a fashionable society girl wondrously dressed, for the love of the handsome hero. It ends happily of course, but not before Mary has shed" some bitter tears, and things have looked v«ry black. The rest of the cast is competent and good, and the Famous Players’ Studio is responsible for some unique effects in studio artistry. Mary Piekford has her first aeroplane ride in “The Girl of Yesetrday.” ••The sky came down to call on us” is how she describes her first sensation whenrehearsing for the piece. Her rival in the drama has bribed an aviator to take the seductive little “Girl of Yesterday for a sky-ride and drop her somewhere too late to go on a yachting cruise. To try and define Mary Piekford’s charm would be as sensible a proceeding as to try and . analyse moonlight. She holds all hearts and there she stays. In “The Girl of Yesterday” she is seen in one of the very best mediums of her art yet filmed. The first episode of “The Mysteries of Myra” will also be shown. The drawing for the Linen Press itf connection with “Our Day” will bd drawn to-night. 20 scats in dress circle will be marked off and these sitting in these seats before drawing will receive a free chance in drawing, this is our effort.
