The French captured a small portion of our foremost line at Hurtebise Farm, Some of our enterprises south-east of Riga succeeded. The French strongly attacked near Monastir. We wiped out or prisonered those penetrating our limes. ■Serbian attacks on Dobropolje broke down. BRITISH OFFICIAL REPORT. Sir Douglas Haig reports the repulse of the third German attempt to capture advanced posts south-west of Havrineourt. The British 'Successfully raided south-east of Monchy le Preux, destroying dug-outs, and capturing machine guns. BRITISH SUCCESS REPORTED LONDON, Sept. 3. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We repulsed raids north-east of Lens and south-west of La Bassee. German and B'ritish artillery has been active eastward of Ypres. Our aeroplanes bombed aerodromes and rail stations' on Friday night. The weather hindered flying on Saturday. FRENCH COMMUNIQUE LONDON, Sept. 3. There was very lively reciprocal artillery fire at night on the Aisne front. Our fire completely smashed another enemy attack on the positions we captured on August 31st, north-west of Hurtebise. The attackers were unable to reach our lines. There has been considerable artillery fire at Hurtebise, in th direction of Maison de Champagne, and in Verdun sectors (at Hill Samogneux and Beaumont.) THE WAY OF THE HUN. AMSTERDAM, Septembers The Telegraaf reports that practically the whole of the male population in Bruges have been ordered to help strengthen the new German lines between the Bruges-Ostend canal and the Yser canal. Switzerland has agreed to reduce the exportation of 46,000 quiitals of chocolate to the Central Powers to 24,000. The surplus will be diverted to , the Allies. i
