PARIS, August 3. The Chamber voted confidence in the Government by 395 to 70.
M. Ribot, the Premier, in a speech preceding the vote, in replying to M. Renaudel’s request to allow Socialists to go to Stockholm, said: “We wish an honourable peace, not a peace which will make us slaves. Peace is only obtainable by victory, and is unobtainable by conferences. W 7 e do not think the Socialist Conference at Stockholm can effect the sort of peace desired.” The Socialist mestral cried: fi We will go despite you! ”' amidsf uproar and shouts.
M. Ribot then appealed to the Chamber for unity. Admiral Ladzem resignation was due to the Chamber seeking power to inquire into all matters pertaining to the Navy. The Chamber is debating the proposal on Friday. It is denied that M. C®aliin has r»signed the Under-Secretaryship of the Blockade.
SUBMARINE CAMPAIGN. ADVENTURES WITH SUBMARINE. COPENHAGEN, August 2 The crew of the Bengucla state that they sailed from Bristol on June 7th, for Philadephia. They were stopped en the 15th in mid-Atlantic by a big German submarine, wdio placed a prize crew aboard and compelled the Bengucla to act as mother for a fortnight, while the submarine made several long cruises, returning on one occasion with a captured Spanish ship. Eventually the crew of the Bengucla were landed at Cadiz. It is believed the Benguela is still mother ship to submarines. NORWEGIAN STEAMERS SUNK LONDON, August 2. The Norwegian steamers Glydensfris and Hildur were submarined in Spanish waters. The crews were rescued. INTERNED. MADRID, August 2. The Government has interned the commander of submarine U 23, whom shipwrecked Norwegians sailors attacked in a street, recognising him as the torpedoer of their ship.
