DOMINION APPOINTMENTS.
WELLINGTON, Jan. 16. The Hon. Jas. Allen stated to-day that some time ago General Godley communicated with him pointing out that General A. H. Russell had only temporary appointment as Major-General, and asking that the promotion should bo permanent. It has been decided to approve, and he has appointed Briga-dier-General Robin to Major-General, also General Russell to the same rank.
