SALE OF AMMUNITION.

The Otago Daily Times states: — "With the coming of the holidays sportsmen are cleaning up their firearms preparatory to going out and fulfilling the Englishman's prerogative of 'killing something.' In this connection it. should be pointed out that the retailers of all hinds of firearms and of ammunition —no matter how small the quantity—have first to obtain permission from The police to dispose of their wares. The wholesale people have also to obtain permission to sell even, small quantities of ammunition, and some ■ retailersare evidently under a misapprehen-

sion that this releases them from the necessity of obtaining a permit to do likewise. If any retailer does nofulfil his obligations under the regulations now laid down there is every likelihood that he will receive an unpleasant reminder of his omission through the medium of the Court."
