CARNIVAL NOTES.

(BY THE 0.5.) , Next week’s list of functions is n large one, and each and all will be .very good. | On Monday a grand concert and j dance is to be hold at Utiku in aid of I Mrs. J, Gilchrist’s candidature, i Miss Horde’s supporters are holding a concert and dance at Te Tvapua on Tuesday next, which promises to be largely attended. On Wednesday a sports meeting is to be held at Rata in aid of Airs Gilchrist’s candidature. Given a f.no day there should be a large attendance, and as a good programme has been arranged the entries for the various events should be very good. In the Papanui Hall on Tuesday ' evening a concert is to .be held in aid of Miss Horde’s candidature.

A wind-up rally is t,o be held by Miss Fordo’s supporters at Matures ou Thursday. Admission will bo free and refreshments will be supplied free, v On the same day a garden fete will be held at Hihitahi in aid of Miss Whenuaroa’s candidature. Indications point to the Guy Fawke’s Fancy Dress Ball, which is being held in the Town Hall ,on November 10th, being a huge success. From the remarks made in different quarters to-day there will be keen competition fer the most suitable dress. A nominal price, as is usual with all Red Cross functions, will be charged. A number of tickets, which at the time of writing are in the printer’s hands, are already bespoken. The Ladies’ Committee and their friends are making great prepafor the sit-down supuer.
