(Rec. 12.10 a.m.)

LONDON, October 10

This was successful for a time, but, owing to the-rain, the fames kept low and did not disperse. When the British attached, the quarry they found that their shells had not penetrated the dug-outs. Swarms of Germans came out. The British fell back, and more gas was loosed. The British then plunged in, taking the quarry and 1,500 men, with six men.
