A DEAD TROOPER'S WILL. EVIDENCE OF DEATH WANTED. GISBORNE, June 22. § At the Supreme Court, in Chambers-to-day, a motion for probate in the will of Malcolm Hugh Campbell, a--tfrooper who had died on a troopship leaving New Zealand, came before Mr Justice Cooper. ' His Honour stated that he had no proof of deat,h. All the proof befor e liim was a signed statement by a military officer stating that the trooper had died at sea. How could this officer know whether t,h.e man had died or not? His Honour added that he had already suggested that judges should hold a conference and determine what proof of death was necessary. The matter was important, as they could expect a good many deaths of New Zeaalnders while the war lasted, and it was essential that they should have absolute proof of death. His Honour adjourned t,he motion until proof of death had been supplied.
