A PERNICIOUS LEAFLET.

INTRIGUE AGAINST RECRUITING. The British working man is probably unaware of the extent to which German influence has been employed to foment.industrial unrest. An instance of this is to bo found in a pernicious leaflet, a copy of which has come into our (London Times) hands as having been circulated within the last few days both in London and Glasgow. We have made inquiries aboirt it, and find that the authorities have known of its existence since January. 1914, when 25,000 copies of it were printed for circulation by member's of "The Industrial Workers' League." of. lfi'i Farrington Street, E.G. It bear? no. imprint, but tho printer has beer discovered in one Valentine Frietag, a German, who is also the printer of the Herald of Revolt, the Industrial Worker, the Catering World, and other revolutionary literature. He is now in the hands of the police. The leaflet runs as follows: THE MILITARY IDEAL. Young man, the lowest aim in your ilfe is to be a good soldier. The "good | soldier" never tries to distingush right ; from wrong. He never thinks, never reasons; he only obeys. If he is ordered to fire on his fellow-citizens, on his friends, on'his neighbours, ho obeys without hesitation. If he is ordered to 1 fire down a crowded street, when the poor are clamouring for bread, he obeys, and sees the grey hairs of age stained with red, and the lifetide gushing from the breast of women, feels neither remorse nor sympathy. If he is ordered off as one of a firing squad to execute a hero, or benefactor, he fires without, hesitation, though he knows that the bullet will pierce the noblest heart that ever beat in human breast.

A good soldier is a blind, heartless, soulless, murderous machine. Flo is r.oi a man; hg is not even a Irute. fry brutes only kill in self-defence. All that is Iruinj-D in him, fill that is .jivine in him, al that constitutes a mail, has been, sworn away when he tool: the enlistment oath. His mind, his conscience, and his very soul are in the keeping of his officer. No man can fall lower than a soldier. It is a depth which we cannot

Young Man. Don't be a soldier Or a Territorial, BE A MAN.
