MOAWHANGO DOG TRIALS.

The fifteenth annual dog trials under the auspices "of the Moawhango Collie Club were commenced on Mr L. T. / Bat-ley's property at Moawhango yesterday. The entries _wer e quite up to past years and the performances iwthe class completed yesterday were, of such merit as to give the judge, Mr ,A. McGlashan of Te Harato a difficult task in selecting the winners. A willing committee had all arranged ment s well in hand and the secretary, Mr W. M. McCombie again proved the right man in the right place. Mr J. Whittle acted as timekeeper, Mr E. Spooner as ground marshal, Mr W. Brewer as flag steward, and Mr T, McFelin as dog steward. The MoaVhango course is credited! with being as good as any in the island, it possesses a good steep faCe s and wilh the recent dry weather the sheep - could - hardly be discerned against the gras s and the dogs were consequently given severe tests. HEAD, PULL, AND HOLD IN RING. About 600 yards. Tim e allowed, 12 minutes. First Prize £8 and Mr A. F. McKenzie's £2 2/ added; second £5; third £2; fourth £l, W. H. Gaisfords "Hemp," with 2-8 points of a possible 30. Ist, also Cup, value £7 7/, presented by Mr Paerati Batley, to be won twice. This- dog : also won Mr W. Caccia Birch's £8 3/ cup outright, having won it twice in succession. Previous winners were: .1907, W. McFarlane's Chip; 1908, A.. Sutherland's Lass; 1909, P. .G L. McKenzie's Lad; 1910, R. Pirie's Bruce, ; 1911, A. Fletcher's Niallie; 1912, C. S. Hay's Scott; 1913, C. S. Hay's Glen; 1914, W. H. Gaisford's Hemp. Yesterday Mr Gaisford's Hemp also won a Kaiapoi rug value £ 3 3/, presented by Mr Stanley Peyton. In this class Mr C. S. Hay's Scotr land Yet, with 27£ points, was second and M r D. Campbell's Sweep, with 2$ points, was third. Sweep also won the ladies' bracelet value £lO 10/, for the . best maiden dog in this class. Mr C. S. Hay s "Scotland Ever," with 25£ points was fourth and Mr s Sheath's Wave fifth. '■';.■.,

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual general meeting of the Club was.held last night. There.were, a large number of doggie men present. Officers were elected for ensuing .year, and a deal of routine business ,-. l; wa,B' transacted.- . Specials for next year were given. by S. S. Haigh, Esq., Mangaweka. CS. Hay, Paparangi and J. Whittle, Moawhango, G. Sexton, Waitotara and P. R. Cottrell, Waioura. It was decided to send Mr E. Spooner as delegate to the Championship Meeting. It was also decided to hold Championship Trials at Mcawhango next year. The secretary was unanimously voted a bonus of £7 7/.
