OBITUARY.
A TE KAPUA SETTLER. The many friends of the late Mr Timothy McCarthy will negret to learn of his decease., H e was a very old jcolonist, having come to New Zealand upwards of 40 years ago. He was one'of the original settlers in the Te Knpua block, which was taken up over twenty years ago. Being a quiet and. unassuming man lie wag highly respected by all who knew him. His geniolity arid good nature made him a man whose company was much sought alio:-. He took no part in local governing aiaii'ff but. was a man of keen, perception in all :busmess matters, honourable in every way. The only relative .be -has in New Zealand is a brother, Mr T. with whom he farm- >•:] in partnership.
