When Mr Gunner, Agricultural inTractor for the Wanganui Education Board, was in Australia recently he seeded two Berkshire sews for Mr John Bobbe, of Fell ding. Mr Cob be, besides icing one of the largest mail order msinesses in the Islands, finds time o do some fanning by way of recregion. Although I have not had the pleaure of sampling his fruit, there was ufficient evidence at the recent Feildng Shew that he knows how to grew pplcs to advantage. He has also elected attend u to seme profit to the juilding up of a good dairy herd, in ddit ion to which he has big interests ’,p the Wanganui River. Mr Ccbbe is row laying the foundation of a pediTee pig herd, and with that object in iew he recently imparted from Hawksbury College stud a Berkshire boar, .Tilth in the opinion of authorities has io superior in the Dominion. This onapprising West, Coast draper-farmer mported from New South Wales two Berkshire sows, the pedigree of cue -,eing Duke Augustus, dam Countess Vu gust us; and the other Mountain Tad, dam Hawkesbury Esmeralda. The jnimals were specially selected by VI r O. A. Banner, agricultural ins tracer, who, by the way, is an expert in ug-breeding. during a recent visit to Vustralia, and they are now serving heir period of quarantine at Wellingon before being forwarded to their Tending quarters. The pigs have quite • substantial length of body, and are mcducts of th? new type being bred, vhieh does away with the necessity of mossing with Tam worth in order tc eevivo length.
