DUNEDIN WOOL SALES. RECORD PRICES. DUNEDIN, Feb. 1(3. The third of the Dunedin series of wool sales was held to-day when a catalogue of 8,947 bales was offered for
auction. Although this was a small offering compared with the l-t,015 bales, of .January last year, the total to date is well up to that of the first three sales of last season. Not so many buyers were operating as at the previous sale, most of the wool going to a few of the
bigger men. There was a further general advance of Id to 2d per pound, some classes showing as muck as 3d. The demand was principally for super halfbred and super crossbreds in light condition. All pieces were in exceptionally strong demand. One contributing factor in the rise in prices this morning is aid to be the presence of two or three buyers who were apparently buying practicaly without limits. Merino and comebacks showed little change, and though there was a slightly bettor demand for a few good lots of merino, the market for this class cannot be quoted as showing any change. The highest price so far in the Dominion this season was 15;;d for a ten bale lot. Super halfbred ewe first combing halfbred fetched I4fd, first combing quarterbred 14Id, first combing halfbred ewe 141 d, first combing hogget 14jd. A whole clip (194 bales) sold on behalf of Mr. Acton Adams, of Wildeu station. Heriot, averaged 14d. This included fleece, bellies, pieces and seedy pices. The result is said to be easily a rcord for the Dominion.
