RIFLE SHOOTINGS.

TAIHAPE DEFENCE CLUB. The first round for the Sutherland Cup was completed during the weekend on the 500 and GOO yards ranges. The sheeting showed a falling off in cases from the previous week, due probably to the rough nature of the weather. F 7 Cody gave a brilliant exhibition cm the 500 yards range scoring 33 out of the possible 35, but unfortunately for himself considerably lowering his aggregate on the 600 yards range. The most consistent shooting was" that of the two veterans, Messrs. E. Anderson and J. Turnbull. The dtailed scoring is as follows;
