AN AUCKLAND TRAGEDY. AUCKLAND, This Day. A shocking tragedy occurred in ount Pleasant Road, Mount Eden, i Saturday afternoon. Residents in e neighbourhood heard four shots ig out from a house. A few meents later they saw Mrs. Elsie May tudin run out of the d welling screamg for help with blood llowing from sr breast and left arm. The police entered by the back door bdeh opened into the kitchen and und the dead body of Albon George ludin, husband of the wounded woan. He was lying on his right side. Is head wag in a pool of blood and his right hand was clasped a new re-chambered revolver. The chamrg had been exploded. Gaudin had mamitted suicide by discharging the vclver into his mouth. The deceased was 25 years of age id is believed to have had no relates in Auckland. He was in employent as a liftman. Mrs, Gaudin was moved to the hospital where she is p.king satisfactory progress. The couple had been married only a years. They had one child. At •&t they lived happily together, but tely had quarreled over money matrs and on a certain question of prinple. ACCIDENT TO A MAORI. ■ V YEVIN, November 14. Yesterday a Maori named Williams et with a serious mishap at Palmer’s rniture factory. He was removing piece of timber from the circular w bex;ch when his hand came in ntact with the saw, with the result at the thumb of his right hand was mpletely severed. He calmly picki up the severed member, wrapped In a piece of paper, and put It in s pocket. It was only when receivg medical attention that he seemed feel the pain and realise the seriisness of the accident.
