Justices of the Peace Entertain
i Enjoyable Evening Arranged Last evening a most enjoyable social was held in the Farmers’ banqueting hall, whpn the Auckland Justices of the Peace entertained their wives and families. The tables were arranged with tall vases of iceland poppies and a delightful programme was given by Air. Bassett, who sang; Captain Algie, lecturette, illustrated with lantern slides; Aliss Rasier, Aliss Hope Asher, and Aliss Alarriage, songs. Aliss D. Langley acted as accompanist. Air. Ellisdon, the president of the association, in a short speecli welcomed the guests. Among those present were: Airs. F. J. Ellisdon wore a frock of black crepe de chine. Mrs. Julius Williamson was gowned in black lace and georgette gown. Airs. Wheeler chose a black ninon embroidered in gold. Airs. Platt Henderson had on black corded silk relieved with fawn. Airs. J. Russell was wearing champagne silk lace over crepe de chine. Airs. J. 11. Reyburn’s gown was of periwinkle blue moire velvet. Airs. Hawkings had chosen deep apricot raarocain. Airs. Fred Aslier wore a frock of black Mrs. Algie was gowned in wine-col-oured satin. Airs. G. l’earce cliose black corded silk and a fur wrap. Airs. T. Adams had on bottle-green satin. * Mrs. Courtenay was wearing a gown of black marocain. Mrs. F. G. Rose had chosen blue corded silk. Airs. T. Atkinson’s frock was of midnight blue crepe de chine. Airs. C. Phillips wore navy crepe de chine relieved with beige. Mrs. Aloroney was gowned in floral crepe de chine. Airs. AlcSkimming chose black georgette and diamente trimming. Mrs. W. K. Hewitt had on a frock of patterned ring velvet. Airs. Mclntosh was wearing green and fawn marocain. Airs. G. Alarsh’s frock was of figured ring velvet. Mrs. F. H. Barnard had chosen cyclamen taffeta. Mrs. S. A. Kemp wore a frock of black satin and lace with black embrodered shawl. Airs. A. Nunns was gowned in brown patterned ring velvet. Airs. A. Leese chose flame ring velvet. Airs. Reuben O’Brien had on wine moire ring velvet,. Airs. YV. AlcNickle was w’earing fawn silk frock. Airs. Marks had chosen a gown of black georgette. Airs. Bissett’s frock was of fawn Mrs. \V. G. Alulholland wore parchment chiffon velvet and georgette. Mrs. J. Lockie was gowned In a brown cloth. Airs. AlcDonald chose navy blue bengaline. Aliss D. Langley had on an anklelengtli frock of mist pink georgette and lace, with bridge coatee to match. Aliss N Alarriage was wearing wine satin and floral georgette. Miss Rosier’s frock was of powder blue georgette and lace. Aliss O’Keefe had chosen black crepe de chine. Miss Hope Asher wore blue panne velvet. Miss Aspin was gowned in black embroidered repp. Miss Tulloch was wearing a floral velvet frock.
BRIDGE AFTERNOON
FUNDS FOR AUCKLAND BRANCH OF LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION The friends of the Auckland branch of the League of Nations Union will benefit considerably as a result of the successful bridge afternoon held yesterday in the J.C.L. Tearooms. Flowering pot’ plants and hanging baskets of fern attractively decorated the room and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. The prize winners were Airs. Cook, Airs. ENJOYABLE CONCERT
CHILDREN’S WARD AT HOSPITAL ENTERTAINED On Saturday afternoon the pupils of Mrs. B. Alayall gavo a concert under her direction in the children’s ward at the Auckland Hospital. An enjoyable programme of songs - , recitations and playlets was thoroughly enjoyed by the little patients.
