MOTOR-CYCLIST KILLED
TRAGEDY AT ALBANY DEATH IN AMBULANCE A fatal crash occurred between a motor-cycle and a car at Albany shortly after dark last evening. The motor-cyclist, Douglas James Harrison, aged 19, a son of Mr. J. Harrison, of Albany died while on his way to the Auckland Hospital in the North Shore ambulance.
The accident was near the top cf the hill by the store, about 150 yards from the bridge which was the scene of the accident to a motor-car about six weeks ago, when two persons were killed. The motor-cyclist was proceeding toward Albany, )and the car, driven by Mr. C. A. Martin, of 604 Mount Eden Road, was travelling in the other direction. The cycle struck the right-hand side of the car, throwing the rider heavily. He received severe head injuries and deep facial lacerations.
Dr. R. G. Dudding, of Northcote, attended and he superintended the injured man’s removal to hospital. Harrison was a sawmill employee well known in the Albany district. The motor-cycle was not badly damaged. although the right-hand front mudguard and running-board of the car were buckled. The car contained five passengers, but none of them was injured. An inquest was opened before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner, this afternoon, and was adjourned after evidence of identification had been taken.
