FATALITY AT WAIUKU VAN TYRE BLOWS OUT Special to TUE SUN WAIUKU, Sunday. Fatal injuries were received by Mr. Thomas Lipsey, aged 28; when the motor-van he was driving capsized in King Street, Waiuku, at 1.30 p.m. today. Mr. Lipsey, with a companion, Mr. R. N. Sharrock, was driving into the township from the direction of the Sandspit. when a tyre of the van blew out. The vehicle swerved round and capsized and Mr. Lipsey was thrown out, his head striking the roadw.ay. He was unconscious when carried into a near-by house, where Dr. R. S. Whiteside attended him, but he died an hour later. Mr. Sharrock, who was not thrown out, escaped injury. The van was little damaged. An inquest was opened before the district coroner, Mr. A. M. Barriball, and after evidence of identification had been given by the deceased’s father, was adjourned.
