£2OO DAMAGES
YOUTH SHOT FRIEND BY ACCIDENT CLAIM AFTER TWO YEARS A claim for £2OO for injuries received in a shooting accident nearly two years ago was allowed in full at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, when Arthur Eric McDonald (Mr. Matthews) proceeded against Theodore Morris . (Mr. Schramm). The mishap occurred at the home of Morris on October 2D, 1028, said Mr. Matthews. Defendant was a territorial and was cleaning his military rifle, which suddenly went off, shattering one of plaintiff's legs. The leg was later amputated and the plaintiff had been in hospital twice, though he now had the use of an artificial limb. The plaintiff was a promising athlete before the accident and had suffered loss of employment. The claim was only for a small figure, owing to the friendship of both parties and defendant's small means. In giving judgment for the full amount, with £l4 13s costs, the magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, said he considered the claim a very moderate one.
