TWO ROOMS GUTTED

HOUSE FIRE AT GREEN LANE Two rooms were gutted by a fire which broke out in an eight-roomed modern house at 259 Great South Hoad, Green Lane, at about two o’clock yesterday morning. The hall was also slightly damaged by the flames, although the Remuera brigade made a good save. The house was owned and occupied by Mr. J. McDermott. The occupants were awakened suddenly at about two o’clock and hurried out of the house. Some of the furniture was taken out, nnd the rest was not seriously damaged. The flames were confined to the kitchen. where the fire started, and an adjoining room. The building was insured for £BSO with the South British Company, but the contents were not insured.
