Ex-Governor’s Heir Marries

Bride in Opal-Tinted Wedding Gown FERGUSSON—DUGDALE On July 17, the marriage took place at St. Columba’s, Pont Street, London, of Mr. James Fergusson, eldest son of General Sir Charles Fergusson, of Kilkerran, and Lady Alice Fergusson, and Miss Louise Frances Balfour Stratford Dugdale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Dugdale, r of 1 Roland Gardens, S.W. Dr. Archibald Fleming officiated, assisted by the Rev. G. W. Walker (minister of St. Machar, Dailly. Ayrshire). Mr. Dugdale gave his daughter away, and she wore a long opal-coloured satin gown trimmed with old lace, lent by the Balfour family, and her veil of old brussels lace, lent by the bridegroom’s family, was held by a wreath of orange blossom. A sheaf of regalia lilies was carried.

Master John Dugdale and Master Peter Boyle, wearing pink corded silk shorts and shirts to match, carried tlio train.

They were followed by four child bridesmaids, Miss Dorothea. Haviland, Miss Susan and Miss Judith Dugdale, and Miss'Janet Balfour. The grownup attendants were Miss Elizabeth Milne, Lady Kathleen Balfour, the Hon. Daphne Strutt, Lady Anne Gathorne-Hardy, Miss Mary Loder, and Miss Alice Walters. Their frocks were of palest pink georgette, with ilower wreaths, and each maid wore a net cap trimmed with pearls and carried a sheaf of delphiniums.

Lieutenant S. C. D. Fergusson, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, attended his brother as best man. The ushers were: The lion. John Strutt, the Hon. Charles Strutt, the Hon. A. Gathorne-Hardy, Mr. Jojin Boyle, Mr. Edward Boyle, Mr. Bernard Fergusson (brother), and Mr. Michael Dugdale,

A reception was later held at 2 Bryanston Square, which had been lent by Lady George Campbell, the bride’s great-aunt, where Mrs. Edgar Dugdale received the guests, wearing a pastel pink lace frock with hat to match. Lady Alice Fergusson wore a delphinium blue georgette frock with black hat to match.

Those present included: General Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson, Admiral Sir James and Lady Fergusson, Miss Margaret Fergusson, Miss Susan Fergusson, Mr. B. Fergusson. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. S. Dugdale, Mr. Michael Dugdale. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dugdale, Mrs. Henry Dugdale. Major and Mrs. L. I*. Haviland, Mrs. Wilfrid Haviland.

Princess Louise. Duchess of Argyll, godmother of the bride, sent her a diamond and amethyst pendant and a brooch to match, and also a diamond necklet with drops, each drop centred with a ruby, which had belonged to a previous Duchess of Argyll.
