PERU DICTATOR FLEES WHEN REVOLT SPREADS
HEADING FOR PANAMA FOUR CITIZENS KILLED United P.A. —By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 12.10 p.m. LONDON, Monday. A message from Lima, Peru, states that Augusto Leguia, who has ruled Peru under a virtual dictatorship for 11 years, has resigned and fled toward Panama aboard a cruiser. A military insurrection started a week ago in Southern Peru and spread like wildfire under the leadership of Colonel Sanchez Gerro. Disorders broke out at Lima, and four citizens were killed.
