TENNIS DANCE
HOWICK CLUB HOLDS ANNUAL FUNCTION ENJOYABLE EVENING The annual dance of the Howick Tennis Club was held in the public hall on Thursday evening. The hall was effectively decorated with ferns and nikau palms intermingled with the club colours of blue and white, carried out with flags, baLlons and spring flowers. Special lighting effects added a delightful glow. There were a large number of visitors present from neighbouring clubs. Music was supplied by the Carnival Five Jazz Lance Band. Among those present were: Mrs. E. G. Uallett, who wore black moire with diarnente trimming; Mrs. R. Baton, lime taffeta and pink shoulder posy; Mrs. S. Bowden, black lace over georgette: Mrs. H. Sunderland (Wellington). black taffeta and net; Mrs. Liggins. black fisher net; Mrs. Hamilton, blue crepe de chine; Mrs. R. Hattaway. mauve crepe satin; Mrs. H. Roberts, black georgette, relieved with fawn lace; Miss D. Beckett, forget-me-not blue satin beaute and Spanish shawl; Miss K. Newton, sea green taffeta and shoulder posy. Miss H. Cameron, wearing a gown of white georgette, dipping at the back, and shirred bodice; Miss D. Roberts, beige georgette heavily sequined: Miss S. Roberts, royal blue georgette; Miss P. Hallett, apricot satin and shoulder spray of camellias; Miss E. Hallett, ankle-length peach georgette with pale green relief: Miss Iris Mills, floral crepe de chine; Miss M. "White, lemon crepe de chine; Miss M. Roberts, blue crepe de chine with gold lace and oriental coatee; Miss M. Devereatix. beige crepe de chine: Miss Iris Ryan, black frilled georgette frock with diarnente relief; Miss J. Bull, .blue crepe de chine; Miss A. Lucas, silver and blat-k georgette; Miss M. McLeod, wine chiffon velvet; Miss A. Connelly, black georgette with shoulder spray; Miss M. Wyman, red crepe de chine; Miss P. Ledez, fuchsia ring velvet and georgette.
