ROLLED UNDER TRAM
ONLY MINOR INJURIES TO CYCLIST ACCIDENT IN CITY A miraculous escape from serious injury or death was experienced by F. Winter, when he was pinned under a tramcar with the bicycle he had been riding across Wellesley Street, at 5 o’clock last evening. The car was quickly lifted with a jack, and the lad was extricated within a few minutes. His only injuries were a dislocated shoulder, bruises and minor abrasions. The boy lives at 34 St. Mary’s Road, Ponsonby, and was riding the cycle across Wellesley Street in Albert Street, in the direction of the waterfront. He had just passed behind a tramcar ascending Wellesley Street when he was struck by another going down the hill. The tramcar was stopped immediately, but the boy had been rolled underneath. As the members of the St. John Ambulance at the central station were busy with casualties from the Rutland Street fire, an ambulance was ordered from the SL John Queen’s wharf station. After treatment at the Auck land Hospital, the lad was able to go home. The cycle was only slightly damaged.
