FLYING HOURS

AERO CLUB PASSES 2,000 MARK FIVE PLANES IN USE A total of 2,024 flying hours has now been accomplished by the Auckland Aero Club's planes since the club started its training of pupils in February of last year. To exceed 2,000 hours in such a short space of time is recognised as quite a feat, and sets a difficult mark for the other clubs throughout the country to better. Five machines, all D.TT. Moths, have assisted in making this total, which is taken up until Sunday evening last, but all the planes have not been in regular use. The time has been made up mostly by solo flying and passenger flights, although dual flying has been responsible for many hours in the air. Of late, business men have realised th© value of the airplane for quick transport, and several long trips have been made. In spite of the winter months, the activities of the club have proceeded without a hitch, especially in the training of pupils. On Thursday week the Aero Club ball is to take place, and owing to the heavy list of reservations already in hand, those intending to be present are advised to reserve as soon as possible.
