REPORT ON PRISONER

ASSAULT AND ROBBERY CASE A report from the Probation Officer is to be obtained by Mr. Justice Herdmand before sentencing Tommy Webber for assault and robbery. The prisoner appeared for sentence this morning, when his counsel, Mr. Noble stated, that the whole affair was the result of a “drunken spree,” in which he had been indulging with the victim of the robbery. The two men had been drinking together in hotels in Rotorua, and counsel suggested, rtre other man must have been “flashing” his money about. The offence was committed when the men were on the road home, the victim, however, suffering little injury. The prisoner was remanded for a •week.
