AIRPLANE’S NEW USE
STOCK DEALER’S FLIGHT TO KAIKOHE AUCKLAND FIRM’S ENTERPRISE Further indication of the growing use of the airplane is found in the flight made yesterday by Mr. A- E. Urquhart, a prominent grazier of Karaka, Papakura, from Auckland to Kaikohe to inspect a pen of bullocks. It is possibly the first occasion that a plane has been used for this purpose in New Zealand. On previous occasions a visit to the Northern town to attend sales took Mr. Urquhart at least two and a-half days and the time spent in train travel was far from inviting. On this occasion, however, at the enterprise of Messrs. Dalgetv and Company, one of the Auckland Aero Club’s machines was hired and the trip north took one hour and 20 minutes, while the return journey was made in an hour and a-half. Ideal weather conditions prevailed throughout the flights and it is anticipated that further flights of this nature will be arranged for the speedy transport of the bigger stock dealers.
