NEW ZEALAND WOMEN
ASSOCIATION FORMED IN LONDON On June 16, a meeting was held in London to form an Association of New Zealand Women in the United Kingdom and the Irish Free State. Lady Wilford occupied the chair and outlined the reasons for the formation of an association of New Zealand Women and stated that a medium of expression for the women was, in her opinion, desirable. She then moved that an association be formed, to be called “The New Zealand Women’s Association.” which was carried. It was then proposed and carried that tho association should be governed by a president, who should bo tho wife of the High Commissioner for New Zealand, two vice-presidents, a committee consisting of nine members with power to add to their number, a treasurer, and a secretary. In accordance with this motion the meeting then elected Ladv Wilford as president, Mrs. E. J. Riddiford and Mrs. Hal Williams as vice-presidents and Meedames Christie, Michie, Myers, Raymond and Rolleston, Miss Thomson and Mrs. Wray as a committee, with power to add to their number. Miss Violet Russell was elected treasurer, and Lady Salmond secretary. It was decided that women born in New Zealand, or married to New Zealanders. or directly connected with New Zealand should be eligible for membership of the association. The annual subscription was fixed at ss, payable to the treasurer on or before July 16 of each year.
