Press Association WELLINGTON. Friday. • The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe visited a number of the institutes of tho Salvation Army today. AVhen at the Eventide Home, at Island Bay. her Excellency met Mrs. Jean Upton, who is 95 years of age. and who was born in Pembrokeshire. She arrived in New Zealand in 1863. Their Excellencies inspected the Army headquarters in Cuba Street, the hostel in Boulcott Street, and the Old Ladies’ Home at Island Bay. They expressed surprise at the extent of the work of the Salvation Army In New Zealand, upon which they had already been considerably informed by Commissioner and Mrs. Cunningham.
