Fire Brigade Holds Dance At Papatoetoe
Annual Function PRETTY DECORATIONS Fronds of feathery nikau palms, intermingled with gay paper poppies, covered the walls of the Papatoetoe Town Hall on Friday evening, on the occasion of the annual dance of the Papatoetoe Fire Brigade. Navy and red streamers, radiating from a dome centrepiece, made effective overhead decorations. Representatives were present from a number of sister brigades. Walker’s Orchestra played the dance music. The supper tables were decorated with navy and red trellised streamers and vases of golden wattle. Among those present were: Mrs. G. Shortt, who was wearing a frock of rose beaded georgette; Mrs. Richmond S Brooke mist grey georgette over a foundation or china blue; Mrs. F Knight, frock of black crepe de chine, with scalloped tiered skirt; Mrs. J. Jackson, primrose frilled georgette, with cor sage of lace; Miss Audrey Willerton, flesh pink frilled taffeta; Miss Marjorie Seel, blue charmeuse. with full Hared skirt stencilled with silver; Miss M. Dreadon, frocked in ivory georgette; Miss Yeolande Willerton, prunella taffeta: Miss Phyijis Healey, smoke blue chiffon; Miss Rae. Stonex, black crepe de chine, with hem of appliqued roses; Miss Elsie Thomas, frock of ivory charmouse with trimmings of silver; Miss E. Skellern, sunrise taffeta; Miss L. Robinson, ankle-length frock of mist blue crepe de chine, with yoke of silver lame; Miss Margaret Baird, frocked in sffxe blue ninon; Miss Cooksey, del blue georgette; Miss Edna Fade, picture frock of sunset taffeta, with transparent hem: Miss Irene Wotherspoon, apple green crepe de chine embroidered in cherry; Miss Duleie Grlnter, tulle frock in soft shades of rose; Miss .T. Baverstock. a dainty gown of peach blossom - georgette inlet with silver motifs; Miss E Matauschka. princess blue crepe faille; Miss M. Booth, grass green brocaded satin Miss Elma Clapham, in shell pink ninon and silver; Miss Ailsa Whyte, crystal beaded scarlet georgette frock; Miss Gladys McCauley, frock of apricot tulle and taffeta, Watts, moss rose georgette, heavily beaded at the waistline; Miss G. Fitness, frocked in maize georgette; Miss F. Stonex, wedgwood blue crepe de chine; Miss Leach, amethyst *affeta finished with shoulder bow Miss Robertson, apricot embossed georgette, with vandyked hem; Miss Ellice, who wore lemon taffeta; Miss N. Burrell deep salmon silk faille, inlet with silver Miss Leach, apple green silk moire, finished with bow of velvet; Miss Mollie Lambert, forget-me-not blue taffeta, appliqued with sprays of tulips; Miss Mahon, frilled frock of cherry satin; Miss Warhaft, snell pink crepe de chine and frilled georgette; Miss Rona Healey, blue panne velvet appliqued with rose shaded velvet flowers.
