YACHTING PRIZES
AKARANA CLUB’S NIGHT A fine collection of cups and trophies, for which nearly all the necessary funds had been provided by the club itself, was presented at the annual prize-giving and dance of the Akarana Yacht Club, held in the clubhouse. Mechanics’ Bay, last evening. Mr. T. McKay, commodore, presided, and welcomed the prize-winners and dancers. Captain H. H. Sergeant presented the prizes as follow: Yachts.—Commodore’s Cup, Iona: White Cup, Huia; Heolin Cup, Manene; Brett Cup, Moa; Club Cup, Shalimar. The points flag was won by Manene with 25£ points, while Matarere won the Booby Cup. Other yacht . winners were:—Nga-Ton, three firsts; Beaute, one first; May Belle, two seconds; Pandora, fine first; lona, three firsts, one third and Commodore’s Cup; Scout, one second; Speedwell, one second; Janet, one third; Iris, one second: Why Not. two firsts, one third; Omatere, one first, one second: Starloch, one first, one second; Starlight, one second; Doreen, two firsts; Mowai, three seconds; Valeria, one third; Huia, one first, one second, two thirds.
