Afternoon “At Ho m e "
Victoria League Party MANY VISITORS WELCOMED A largely-attended “At Home” was held by the Victoria League in the rooms in Shortland Street, yesterday afternoon. The rooms were attractively decorated with bowls of yellow jonquils and beautiful blue and mauve irises. The president, Aliss welcomed those present, and made reference to the activities of the league; she also mentioned that the 21st birthday of the league would take place at the latter part of the year. A special welpome was extended to Airs. Hay and Airs. Turner (Christchurch), Airs. Cockburn Hood (Masterton), Airs Bamfield and Miss Gillies (Wellington), Mrs. Sholto Douglas (Hawke’s Bay), Mrs. Leonard Taylor (Palmerston North), Airs. Badle, who recently returned from abroad, and Mrs. Fancourt, of Parnell. During the afternoon songs were given by Miss Nancy Gilmour, accompanied by Airs. Gilmour, and a pianoforte solo by Aliss Shutes, L.R.A.AI., A.R.C.M. The hostesses for the afternoon were: Lady Sinclair-Loekhart, Airs. Palmer,’ jun., Mrs. Edger, Mrs. J. B. Alacfarlane, Mrs. M. H. Partridge, Mrs. T. Russell, Airs. Devore, Airs. Rickerby, Mrs. J. Reid, Miss Slator, Aliss Fenton, Miss C. Murray, Miss F. Alurray, Miss Gerrard.
