CAR PASSENGER’S DEATH

CRASH INTO RAILINGS Press Association MASTERTON, Monday. The adjourned inquest concerning the death of Patrick Duane, who was killed on the Carterton-Masterton Road at Claremont on July 5, was held today before the district coroner, Mr. E. G.

Eton. Duane was a passenger in a motor-car. The evidence showed that the railings of a culvert were struck by the car. The driver said he was dazzled by the lights of an approaching car. The verdict was that deceased died as the result of injuries received through being struck by the railings. The coroner said there was no eyewitness of the accident. There was no direct evidence of negligence on the driver’s part.
