FIRES BUILDING TO COVER ROBBERIES OUTBREAKS IN NAPIER Press Association NAPIER, Monday. Following the suppression of an outbreak of fire on Saturday night in the front portion of the building known as the Club Sample Rooms in Herschell Street, fires were found in three other places within the building. All the outbreaks have obviously been started deliberately. The stock of a working jeweller, Mr. W. E. Cooper, in the front portion of the building, was destroyed. It was not insured. A quantity of soft goods in sample rooms at the back was considerably damaged by fire and water. This stock was owned by Mr. A. L. Downes and other warehousemen's agents, and was insured under two policies of £4OO each. The building the property of Mr. J. Vigor Brown, was insured for £1,500 in the Phoenix Office. An investigation revealed that soft goods valued at about £SO had been stolen before the fire started. Any theft which might have taken place in the jeweller’s shop was effectively covered by fire damage.
