BUSHMAN COMPENSATED
INJURY TO ONE ARM Full compensation from the date of his accident up to date, and for 13 weeks beyond, was granted by the Arbitration Court yesterday to Wehi Kahipere, a Maori busliman, in his claim against the National Timber CoLtd. The plaintiff was hurled off a bush tramline truck, on which he was travelling. on October 17, 1928, which was derailed and capsized. He struck his arm in • falling on a heavy block of timber, with the result that the limb was permanently disabled. Compensation was paid lip to January 23, 1929. A further £2l 8s as compensation was offered by vhe company, but this was declined. The plaintiff claimed compensation for 280 weeks from the date of the accident, or, alternatively, the shin of £B3l. After hearing evidence, Air. Justice Frazer expressed the opinion that the plaintiff hud told a perfectly frank: straightforward story. In addition to tb~ court’s award, the plaintiff would bo allowed 1.0 per cent, of full compensation for the remainder of tiie period of liability, together with costs.
