AUCKLAND COURT RETURNS For the quarter ended on June 30 the work of the Auckland Police Court was fairly heavy. Criminal charges against men numbered 2,311, and against women 190, making a total of 2,501. The figures for the corresponding period last year were 2,377 and 23G respectively,' a total of 2.G 13. There* were 85 civil and 124 criminal sittings during the quarter, compared with S - civil and 116 criminal sittings in the second quarter last year. Civil fees amounted to £4,537, criminal fees to £5lO, and tines to £2,490, making a total of £7,537. The respective figures for the corresponding quarter last year were £4,424, £589, and £3,947, a total of £8,960.
