GEORGETTE AND POINT LACE GOWN
ROTORUA BRIDE CARRIES SHEAF OF LILIES BATES—OWENS A very pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Luke’s Church, Haupapa Street, Rotorua, on Wednesday, when Beryl Silian, second daughter of Mrs. Owens, of Pukuatua Street, Rotorua, was married to Cyril Albert, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Bates, of Malfroy Road, Rotorua. The bride, who was given away by Mr. C. Burnand, wore a frock of ivory georgette, fashioned with a point-lace yoke, tight-fitting sleeves and finished with handkerchief cuffs and a hip yoke, from which fell a long fullyflared skirt. Her embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and finished at the back with a butterfly bow of tulle. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies and asparagus fern tied with ivory satin ribbon, on which were small posies of orange blossom and silver leaves. The chief maid, Miss Marjorie Bates, sister of the bridegroom, wore a frock of peach crepe de chine, with tight-fitting sleeves finished with a small bow, and tiered skirt drooping on one side and finished with a belt and diamante buckle. She wore a black felt hat trimmed with peachcorded ribbon and caught in front with a small peach and diamante ornament. Her bouquet was of peach Iceland poppies, pink stock and pink berries, with maidenhair and asparagus fern and peach streamers. Mrs. Ward, who was matron of honour, wore a. frock of beige crepe satin relieved with nigger trimmings, a smart close-fitting beige felt hat trimmed with nigger brown, the brim, which turned up, was caught with a diamante ornament, and she carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers, berries and leaves with _ asparagus fern and streamers of beige, orange and nigger. Mr. B. Cuff was best man, and Mr. S. Dalbeth was groomsman. The Rev. D. C. Bates performed the ceremony, and Miss M. Mactier was organist. Later a reception was held at the kiosk. Government Gardens. The large room had been decorated with bowls and vases of autumn-shaded flowers, and over the bridal table was suspended a beautiful wedding-bell. Mrs. Owens received her guests wearing a frock of navy crepe moraine with inset front of grey and a hat of navy felt trimmed with grey. She carried a posy of violets and asparagus fern with mauve streamers. Mrs. J. C. Bates, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy tailored costume with navy felt hat.
