AMATEUR ATHLETICS
NEW CLUB FORMED With a view to fostering amateur athletics generally, a harrier club lias been formed in the Birkenhead and Xorthcote district. The new club will be known as the Calliope Harrier Club. The following officers have been elected: —Patron, Mr. E. Le Roy; president, Mr. W. E. Paterson; vice-presi-dents, the Rev. W. W. Avery. Messrs A. E. Greenslade, J. P. McPhail, W. 13. Barlow, J. \V. Cocks, J. W. Court. A. G. Jasper, W. Copeland, L A. Cape, and J. Atherton; secretary. Mr. W S. Taylor, of Xorthcote; treasurer. Mr C. M. Jewell; captain. Mr. \V. S. Taylor; deputy-captain, 3lr. A. E. Clayton, members of general committee, in addition to the above officers, Messrs. R Drummond, R. Hoggard and J. Male: handlcappers, Messrs. E. Taylor and 1. A. Cape. . x , A preliminary club run is to take place on Saturday, starting from the Birkenhead Methodist Hall at 3 p.m.. over a course of about three miles.
