MOTOR-CYCLE HITS TAXI
WRECKED AGAINST STONE WALL A collision between a motor-cycle and a taxi at Penrose yesterday afternoon, resulted in two young men being taken to the Auckland Hospital. The driver of the cycle, Mr. Harold Green, aged 21, of Portage Road, Otahuhu, received head injuries, and the pillion - rider, Mr. Ivan Watkins, aged 21, of Pukeiti Road, Otahuhu, suffered abrasions. The cycle was travelling toward uckland, and the taxi was going in -xte opposite direction. The taxi was driven by Mr. L. Murdoch, of 3 Ruskin Street, Auckland, and was near the intersection of Church Street, Penrose, and Great South Road, when the handlebar of the cycle struck the front offside mudguard of the larger vehicle. The machine swerved heavily and collided with a stone wall at the roadside. The men on the motor-cycle were thrown violently, and a passing motorist took them to hospital. The front part of the cycle was wrecked, the wheel being torn right off, and the impact was severe enough to cause several yards of the wall to i collapse.
