MORE TRAMS FOR REMUERA

TRANSPORT BOARD’S PLANS As soon as new tramcars now under construction are available they will be placed on the route through Parnell to Remuera, according to Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman, at aameeting of the Auckland Transport Board this morning, when Mr. E. H. Potter brought forward complaints regarding an insufficient service to Remuera. A report had just been presented regarding the Remuera tramway ex tension to Meadowbank Road, which was opened last Sunday. The chairman said that he, t<fo, had heard complaints, and was assured by the manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, that the position would improve shortly. “The trouble is with the short-sec-tion folk,” said Mr. A. J. Entrican. “There are trams running only as far as St. Stephen’s Avenue, but the through cars are rushed as soon as they appear, and crowded out by living at Parnell. The cars are half empty when they reach Newmarket.” “As soon as the new trams are available a system of minimum fares will be brought in,” said Mr. Allum.
