AT IT AGAIN

CARNERA GETS A VICTIM IN DETROIT FIGHT TOOK SOME BLOWS, TOO NEW YORK, Thursday. In a boxing match at Detroit Primo Camera, the Italian giant (ISst llilb), knocked out Christner (14st sJlb) in the fourth round. The first two rounds vere even, but the third was given to Christner, who troubled Camera considerably by getting within the Italian’s guard and landing blows to the body while Camera could not make his usual long swing. Christner also refused to give way to his rushes and attempted clinches. Finally, however, after Camera had landed several stiff blows to the head Christner weakened. He received a series of sledge-hammer rights to the jaw and dropped to the canvas, where he rolled on his back apparently unconscious. *

It was reported recently that Camera was banned by the New York Boxing Commission. which cancelled his licence and that of the four members of his managerial staff. All his contests in U.S.A. were advertised as bona-fide matches, but nfter the investigation held in California into Camera’s fight with the negro, Chevalier, Mr. Charles Traing, boxing commissioner, said the evidence plainlv showed that the action of the negro’s second who threw a towel into the ling was inspired by some person connected with the management of Carnera.

“Chevalier’s testimony was that an irritant had been rubbed into his eyes, biat attempts had been made to impair his breathing, that Perry, his second, had threatened to kill him if he did not lie down, and that he had been offered a large purse if he would surrender tq the Italian.” The ban on Camera apparently does not apply in Michigan, seeing that, the bout described in the above cablegram took place at Detroit, the chief city in that State. In 16 fights in IJ.S.A. Camera won £33,000.
