HE PAID THE FINE
JUSTICE SHOWS CHARITY Good old “alma mater” is a weakness with James M. Corcoran, of Illinois, Justice of the Peace. Virginia Fling, arraigned for speeding, said she was hurrying home from classes at North-western University. “Well, I’ll make it a low fine,” said the court. “Two dollars.” “But I’m broke,” Miss Fling protested.
The Justice paid the fine himself. “That's w-hat I get,” he said, sadly, for going to college.”
