THE SEASON’S CATCH

4s 3d IN TIN CAN Fishing in the Darling River, Mr. A. J. Kimmorley, of Bourke, registered the catch of the season. From a deep hole he hooked a rusty petrol tin, and was about to throw it away when, from curiosity, he emptied out the mud. Inside was a smaller tin, similarly rusted and mud-covered, at the bottom of which were numerous copper and silver coins amounting to 4s 3d. The tins had obviously been in the water for a long time, and had apparently been used as a cache by a drover or an aboriginal.
