HEART TESTS
STUDENTS UNDER ANAESTHETIC To study the changes which take place in the heart under anaesthetics, 1G healthy young Middlesex Hospital students volunteered *as subjects. They were placed in a recumbent position and nitrous oxide administered. Deep anaesthesia was always obtained; in some instances slight or severe convulsions took place. It was found that striking functional changes took place in the heart during the inhalation of pure nitrous oxide. These were recorded by electrocardiograph.
