NEW TARIFF OPPOSED

PROTESTS FLOOD TO U.S.A. STATE DEPARTMENT OVER THIRTY COUNTRIES Reed. 9.5 a.m. WASHINGTON, Wed. Over 160 protests and observations on the Tariff Bill have been received by the State Department from over 30 foreign countries and have been forwarded to the Senate Finance Committee.

The large majority are from foreign trade organisations and individual producers. Some, however, express the view that tlieir communications with the Government date back as far as March, 1929. But several have been received this month.
