A DRAWN MATCH
UNINTERESTING FINISH IN M.C.C. CRICKET AUSTRALIANS GET 213 Heed. 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The match between the Australian touring cricketers and M.C.C. at Lords was drawn. The visitors made 255 in the first innings and 213 in the second. M.C.C. male 258 in the first innings. As only five minutes remained after the Australians’ depressing innings had ended, Marylebone did uot bat again. Play was resumed at one o’clock. A slippery ball hampered the bowlets and the attack was entrusted to the slow bowlers, Stevens and Peebles. Jackson continued to bat attractively, though he was dropped on the boundary when he had reached 38. Conditions after lunch still favoured the batsmen. Jackson reached his first 50 of the tour by hitting Peebles for six. Shortly afterward he cut a hall hard to Hcadreu at short slip. Kippax and Ponsford batted confidently before they gave easy catches. Richardson was shaky from the start. INTEREST GONE Grimmett’s wicket was shattered after a vigorous innings. Then Allen also bowled Wall, but interest had vanished from the match, which, like the previous fixture, was interesting for two days and then ended tamely. Fairfax, nevertheless, batted as though his side was in a desperate positiqn. The scores are: — AUSTRALIA First Innings I 285 Second Innings.
