SLIPPED ON FOOTPATH

TWO WOMEN HURT CLAIMS AGAINST COUNCIL Falling in Grey’s Avenue recently, a woman was hurt, and lost £5 5s in wages, and paid £3 3s in medical expenses. The woman, through her solicitors, asked the City Council last evening for damages. She said that she fell through, a trench being improperly filled in after excavation. If damages were not granted, she would bring an action. The city engineer reported that his examination of the footpaths failed to reveal any parts which could be described as dangeroLis. He recommended that liability be disclaimed. Another woman who slipped on a manhole in Queen Street was also hurt. She likewise asked for compensation. The engineer advised that the manhole belonged to the Transport Board. He recommended that liability be disclaimed. The council upheld the engineer.
